Counseling for Individuals, Couples, and Families

About Shelley

"I believe in the bio-psychosocial counseling approach of mind, body, and spirit in working with the total individual. I use a variety of techniques to assist clients including; cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy, internal family systems, and mindfulness."

I am a Licensed Alcohol and Drug – Mental Health Counselor (LADC/MH #1247). I graduated with my Master of Arts from the University of Central Oklahoma, Substance Abuse Studies program. I am currently under supervision to become a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist. I specialize in treating people with alcohol and other drug abuse/addiction, eating disorders, issues stemming from shame, guilt and low self-worth, trauma and other adverse life events. I currently sit on the board for the Oklahoma Eating Disorder Association, am a member of the Oklahoma Drug and Alcohol Professional Counselor Association, and I am co-founder of a peer consultation group formed in Oklahoma City to support and grow professionals in the area that are either currently treating or interested in working with eating disorders.

I take a team approach in treating individuals struggling with disordered eating and eating disorders, partnering with your registered dietitian and medical doctors to provide the best care. I am also a licensed facilitator of the Am I Hungry? Mindful Eating for Binge Eating ® program. I offer this in both individual sessions and a 10 week group program. As a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor, I have experience working with clients with various forms of substance abuse and specifically opiate addiction and those receiving medication assisted treatments such as methadone, Suboxone, etc. I believe there are multiple paths to recovery and feel strongly that no one approach is the answer for everyone. I work with the individual to explore the many modalities that can help you find freedom from addiction.

I believe in the bio-psychosocial counseling approach of mind, body, and spirit in working with the total individual. I use a variety of techniques to assist clients including; cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance-commitment therapy, internal family systems, and mindfulness.

I would like to partner with you in this process by offering education, a new perspective and insight, and to help you tap into the strengths you already possess. I see this as a collaborative effort based on trust and mutual respect, to find growth, healing and recovery.
